William Lee Harbert

William L. “Bill” Harbert, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away on August 4, 2023, at the age of 94. He was born on October 28, 1928, in Boomer, West Virginia. Bill lived a full and remarkable life that touched the hearts of everyone he met.

Bill was a Sheet Metal Mechanic by trade and worked in Ohio, Florida, West Virginia, and then back to Ohio. He retired from Ross Labs in 1992 but continued to work part-time at Worthington Cylinders. He was a Korean War Veteran and proudly served his country. On returning from the Korean War, he married his high school sweetheart, Martha Spencer, on August 31, 1952. Together they had three children, Martin, Catherine, and Rebecca.

Bill had a passion for playing pool and fishing. He was an avid pool player and would shoot pool at the pool hall in the Westerville Athletic Center. He also made several trips to Canada to fish. Bill was a kind-hearted man who loved to give back to his community. He coached youth baseball and was a scout for the Baltimore Orioles. He also loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and would proudly cheer them on during their games.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Catherine (Gary) Rank and Rebecca (Mark) Miser; granddaughters, Michelle (Chris) Freeman, Melissa (Bryan) Tinlin, Nicolette Miser, Samantha Miser (John Arlington); great-grandchildren, Max Tinlin, Emalyn Freeman, Parker Tinlin, Kamden Tinlin, and Jacklynn Arlington; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Spencer Harbert, and son, Martin “Mick” Harbert.

Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 6-8 p.m., where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Ohio Honor Flight.

William L. “Bill” Harbert will always be remembered as a kind-hearted man who touched the lives of many. His legacy will continue to live on through his family and friends who loved him dearly. Rest in peace Bill.
